Its been pretty sad lately because there has not been one good movie to come out that has driven me to the theaters lately. In fact, I can't remember the last time I have been to the movies. I am looking for a good laugh, a good action movie with an interesting plot, or a drama that will make me wanna ball my eyes out. And since I refuse to ever see a Twilight movie as long as I live, I am in desperate need to see a good film.
I am very tempted to go see brothers. I have heard its outstanding and the performances are amazing. I look forward to seeing Tobey Mcguire bounce back after Spiderman 3 which was so terrible.
But I am really looking for a good comedy to go see. Since Bruno was a disappointment, (but luckily we had the Hangover this summer), I am in need of a good laugh. I will probably be a typically chick and go see the upcoming romantic comedy It's Complicated. Nancy Myers rarely disappoints me. Interesting story and great actors should make it entertaining.
There are actually some other interesting movies coming out this Christmas as well. I have been awaiting the release date of Heath Ledger's last movie for quite some time now. With Johnny Depp and Jude Law in it as well, I really hope this doesn't disappoint. Also, Sherlock Holmes looks like it will be a decent film as well. Its seems Robert Downey Jr's comeback is here to stay.
So this Christmas, I will be at the movies and all I can say is .... It's about time!!!

Purdue Going GOGO for GAGA
Lady GAGA officially announced last week that her tour will be making a stop in West Lafayette on January 14th. Purdue students where shocked and excited to hear that such a big artist like Lady Gaga would actually come to Purdue.
Purdue is not known for scoring any really big name artist. The last couple of years their has been a campaign to try to improve the entertainment that comes to Purdue. Efforts have improved with the help of the student concert committee. Last year Purdue was able to get Robin Williams to come back and do a show. Also, Purdue had Jason Maraz perform as well as OAR. Essentially this is the first time Purdue has really had a huge star that is on the up rise come perform. This can be the key factor in getting more artist in the future come perform at Purdue.
The big question is why did Lady GaGa choose to perform at Purdue of all places? My guess is she really like Purdue's Elliot Hall of music theatre style venue. Lady GaGa admitted after Kayne West dropped out of the tour that she prefers doing smaller theatre-like venues than stadiums. She is a true performer and wants the whole audience close up to see her performance.
GaGa will be doing three shows in Chicago the week before she comes to Purdue. All her tickets for the Chicago shows sold out the day of the presale in less than 10 minutes. This could be another reason Lady Gaga choose Purdue because it only 2 hours from Chicago and she has a really strong fan base in this area.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am to all Purdue Students. Only half of the tickets are getting released. The other half as well as the meet and greet passes will be available to the general public on Saturday through Ticketmaster.
I must admit I was one of the crazy people who got first in line this morning for the tickets. I am planning on camping out all night to get good seats. This is a once and a lifetime experience that I can say I took part in. I think Lady Gaga is a great performer and will put on a hell of a show. I know this concert will be one night I won't forget!

Can Palin Rebound From Media?
It seems that Sarah Palin cannot escape the constant criticism from the media. Right now the media is Palin's biggest competitor she must overcome if she wants to run for President in 4 years.
It amazing to see in our society how powerful the media can be. When Palin was first announced as McCain's running mate, she received so much attention because everyone was fascinated in discovering who she was. At first, the McCain team loved all the attention she was getting and thought this could really boost their popularity in the election. Boy did it come back and bite them in the ass!
Soon Palin was receiving too much attention... too much negative attention. She was soon becoming accountable for every word she said publicly. The criticism of her intelligence and lack of experience she had the political field. Her family life was getting pried into at a crucial and private time for her family.
The ever so popular SNL skits depicted by Tiny Fea didn't help either. Even though Palin appeared on the show, the truth of the matter was that the underlined message of all the skits where attacking her lack of intelligence and incapability of holding office.
So where does Palin stand now? After McCain lost the election, Palin finally tried to fight back and accuse the media for destroying her imagine. Can you blame her? Palin was able to slip under the radar for a while, but she made headlines when she stepped down as Alaska's Governor. It seems Palin may begin preparing for the next election a bit early, but she may need all the help she can get.
Palin con tines to get destroyed by the media. It does not help when the father of your grandchild continues to go in front of the media and bash you. Comedians like David Letterman and Kathy Griffin love to fuel the fire about Palin's incapability of being in politics.
Palin is set to release a book called "Going Rogue" this month and will embark on a book tour soon. With this book, I am sure she is hoping to regain supporters and receive some positive press.
The real question is will her efforts be able to save her from the media if she runs in the next election OR has the media already destroyed her image? Only time can tell...

When the Saints Come Marching In
The New Orleans Saints have a record of 7-0 going into this week vs. Carolina. In my opinion, they are the best team in the NFL and if I had to choose who would win the Superbowl it would be the Saints. I couldn't think of a better thing to happen for New Orleans.
Now i will admit I am not a big fan of the NFL, but as a huge sports fan and growing up around football all my life I try to follow. As a Chicago native I have never be much of a Bears fan. I would cheer for the Bears vs their Packer rivals. Since the Bears have continued to make poor choices with their football team like thinking Rex Grossman could compete with someone like Payton Manning in the Superbowl and giving up on a very talented Kyle Orton for Jay Cutler, I just cannot follow the Bears.
My love for the Saints actually began the year that the Bears went to the Superbowl and the Bears had defeated the Saints in the playoffs. The Saints did play a poor game vs. the Bears, but what I saw the most from that team was potential. It was Sean Payton's first year as the head coach and I could see he was just getting his feet wet. I knew with time, he would adjust to his team and learn what it took to compete in the NFL. I mean his first year being head coach for a team in the NFL and he had managed to get the Saints to the playoffs.
The Saints struggled a bit in the last couple years because of injuries and some new young players, but I just had a feeling that one day everything would fall into place for them. And that time is NOW! All of their young players have developed into such great talent. One player I must focus on in particular is Pierre Thomas. Pierre Thomas attended my rival high school TF South. I remember watching him play and destroy our football team simply because no one could stop him. He played college ball at IL but then was never drafted in the NFL. Sean Payton picked up Thomas in 2007 as a free agent. Payton saw true potential in Thomas....AND boy was he right.
Thomas has to be one the best running backs in the NFL right now.
I can't talk about the Saints whiteout mention their QB Drew Brees. Its just so happens by chance that he went to Purdue. More importantly, let's focus on what he has done for this team this season. I have heard Brees be compared to having the skills of Brady, Warner, and Manning all in one game. He has clearly been the dominant force of the Saints offense and the main reason they are undefeated right now.
All in all we got a outstanding coach, running back, and QB (but then there is always Reggie Bush and Jeremy Shockey who they picked up this year). So there is no doubt in my mind that the Saints could go undefeated this season and take home a Superbowl victory for the city of New Orleans.

Three Filmmakers Bound for Hollywood.
I am very proud to say that I am friends with 3 very talented filmmakers. They are: Harry Locke, Walter Banasiak, and Danny Grenchik. These boys have worked extremely hard since the beginning of their college careers on putting together their own production company and making movies. Since then they have created Power Trio Studios where they successfully completed 2 full length films, 1 short film and are in the works on their 3rd film that will be in production this summer. Their talents have received a variety of attention from an article in the Chicago Tribune, to winning a screenwriters contest for the University of Cincinnati , as well as their movie trailers and talents being showcased throughout Ohio State University.
I want to focus on their 2nd film that they are getting ready to release on dvd. The movie is titled I'm Still Here and was written by Power Trio member Walter Banasiak. A brief synopiss of the movie that I stole from their brillent website explains,: "Chronicles the gritty tale of Jason Lonesephine (Walter Banasiak), a loner with a death wish against menacing weapons dealer, Julio Perez (Harry Locke IV); a man responsible for not only the corruption of Lonesephine’s hometown, but the brutal murder of both his close friend and mother. Against all odds, Lonesephine must now fight to find those brave enough to join his crusade to salvage the city brought to its knees by Perez and the clutchhe holds on the city’s law enforcement. In this tale of blood and betrayal, Lonesephine will be forced to redefine justice, in a land that has long been defined by cowardice."
I must take some credit and say that I do play a role in this upcoming film, but this is far from the reason of why I am writing this blog. I really want to help get these guys names out. I truly believe that all 3 of them have a future in the film industry and our bound for Hollywood. Each of them offers a unique sense of style that will truly let them stand out from the competition. Their film work keeps getting better and better. What I can say I am the most proud of is that they are learning it all on their own. I think first hand experience and learning things and overcoming struggles yourself gets you the further in life.
Please check out their their trailer for "I'm Still Here" at:
www.powertriostudios.com
Also on their site you can learn more about these talented filmmakers. Join their forums where you can speak directly with them and also visit the shop where you can buy a copy of their new movie "I'm Still Here" on dvd.

Should Purdue Loose All Hope in Football Team
After this past weekend's thumping of Purdue 37-0 against the Wisconsin Badgers, I don't blame Purdue fans who are ready to give up on the team. This season has been a very upseting one. The thing I noticed that Purdue football is it has a tendency to get your hopes up and then completely crush them.
Let me recap the season for you and I will explain what I mean by this. Purdue came out first game of the season strong, confident, and ready to win. They had a great first win over Toledo scoring 52 points. This made fans feel very happy and confident with the team and already caused fans to have high hopes. Game #2 vs. Oregon. Now playing on the road can be tough, but Purdue had the lead throughout most of the game. I was confident that they would pull of the victory. Who would of known that missing that easy field goal would come back to haunt us? Especially after our kicker broke a Purdue record of nailing one at 61ft. Oregon came back and defeated the Boilers a devastating 38-36. Hopes were up and then destroyed.
Game 3 vs. Northern IL resulted in an upset lose of 28-21. Purdue in my opinion took advantage of the playing ability of Northern IL. Northern IL simply outplayed the Boilers and did not make as many mistakes as us. The victory for Northern IL gave them their 2nd win in history against a Big Ten school. Way to go Boilers! At this point, hope is very low for the rest of the season. But fans could not give up on our team now, right before Game 4 vs one of our rivals Notre Dame. Now ND may have been the better team, but all bets our off for this rival game. Purdue even had the home field advantage in their favor. I have to say after this particular loss, it was extremely hard to be a Purdue football fan.
Purdue gave us high hopes from the start scoring the first touchdown. ND managed to take the lead, but Purdue stayed close. In the 4th quarter the Boilers came alive and took the lead against the Irish 21-17 with about 3 minutes remaining. The stadium erupted and all the ND fans were in shock. All Purdue had to do was hold the ND offense. With 23 seconds remaining ND scored on 3rd down from the 2 yard line. I can honestly say it was one of the most devastating moments. I was working on the field that game and was standing only 2ft away from the Notre Dame team when they celebrated in the end zone on that last touchdown. This moment was where hope had hit rock bottom for the Boilers.
If hope wasn't at an all time low enough, the next 2 weeks sure didn't help. After having the lead vs. Northwestern all the way into the 4th quarter, the Wildcats took advantage of six Purdue turnovers. Northwestern came back and defeated Purdue 27-21. Minnesota was another heartfelt loss as the Boilers fell 35-20.
At this point Purdue had lost 5 games in a row and there was absolutely NO HOPE AT ALL!
And with Ohio State coming to town, all Purdue fans could think of was how embarrassing this game would be. I am sure most fans decided to skip out and sell their tickets. So who would of thought in a million years that Purdue would turn around and upset the Buckeyes? This game was truly amazing. Terrelle Pryor looked like absolute garbage giving up 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles. Purdue had not beat a ranked team since 2003. This victory restored ALL HOPE back to Purdue and maybe even gave us too much High Hopes.
I was really interested to hear what Danny Hope had to say after this huge victory. I attended the Danny Hope show that following Monday and from the atmosphere, you would of thought Purdue was an undefeated team and leading the Big Ten. I don't blame fans for being excited, I sure was too. But all of a sudden everyone was there backing Danny Hope. I was surprised to hear from Danny Hope's mouth that Purdue had the same game plan going into Ohio state. The result of their win was just fewer mistakes. I really believe that it was more than just fewer mistakes that brought the team to victory. Hope also promised MORE WINS!
The following week victory over IL, made Purdue fans more confident and secured more hope that Purdue would turn the season around.
Unfortunately this past weekend was such a serious ass kicking , that I can honestly say I have almost become HOPELESS. Our team didn't even show up for that game in my opinion. I have never seen so many dropped and imcomplete passes in my life. And the fact that one member of Wisconsin's team had more rushing yards than our whole team is really pathetic. So what did Coach Hope have to say about this one. He wished our team played better ( who didn't!) It was shocking to hear that he complimented our defense and said they got better as game went on. 37 points is not something to brag about saying our defense did well. The only reason our defense may improved at the end is because Wisconsin put in the 3rd string by then and felt bad for us.
I am still a Purdue football fan and always will be. It just gets harder and harder to have Hope for this team. My dad promised me last year that he would take me a bowl game when Purdue makes one. Well last year was the first time in a long time Purdue went Bowl LESS and this year will be no different. I HOPE their is a light at the end of the tunnel for this team and that I will be able to attend a bowl game with Purdue in it for my senior year.
